Edward Borton, Education Consultant
Before co-founding ESB, Edward worked as the Assistant Headmaster at one of the UK's leading independent schools, King’s College School, Wimbledon, following teaching and middle management roles at Whitgift School and Clifton College. His wide-ranging educational background includes academic and professional qualifications from world-renowned institutions such as Harvard University, Oxford University, Exeter University, and the United Nations.
Based in London, Edward works with a tight circle of clients, from expectant families and new parents seeking guidance on top pre-schools and schools in central London, to families preparing for the 7+, 8+, 11+, and 13+ for academically selective prep, senior, and grammar schools. He also advises both domestic and international families relocating to London or other areas of southern England on their school choices and lifestyle considerations.
With years of experience, strong relationships with schools, and a range of assessment tools, Edward is committed to helping parents secure places at the best schools for their children, whether they are planning ahead or working on short notice. For older children, he takes a thorough approach, carefully evaluating their academic abilities, character, and wider interests to ensure our shortlisted schools are the perfect fit for the child and their family. This personalised service is offered through ESB’s gold standard advisory packages: The School Search and The Bespoke Service.
Edward also provides expert support to a very limited number of families per admissions cycle, guiding them through competitive school entrance exams via The School Placement service – a tailored, consultant-guided strategic planning and preparation service. He is widely regarded as a leading authority on 7+ and 8+ admissions, with particular expertise in London’s most prestigious schools, such as Westminster Under School, St Paul’s Juniors, and King’s College Junior School, Wimbledon. He is equally proficient with 11+ and 13+ admissions to the country’s most sought-after boys’, girls’, and co-educational schools.
